For new online slot games to really hit big they need a lot going for them these days. A great back story or theme is part of that and every Halloween season the game providers all try to outdo each other. Last year NeoGames jumped on the pumpkin-laden bandwagon and released the truly oddball ‘Graveyard Party’.
I’m a child of the 80’s and the cult film Beetlejuice was a huge part of my youth, if Tim Burton decided to make a video slot game, I’m pretty sure this is what he would have come up with, I’m also certain the in-house design team were high, drunk, or both when they let this one loose (QA were clearly sleeping one off when it went by). Is it frightfully entertaining to play though, or simply dreadfully mundane when the novelty wears off?
I’ll let you be the judge.

Theme & Game-play
This game isn’t scary in the classic horror sense but the animated reel characters are disturbing, to say the least, especially when you win and they come to life on the reels. I don’t recommend this before bed or after any form of mood altering substance (I mean alcohol before anyone says anything!).
The icons range from high to low payout with a ‘Punisher’ like skull icon, a smug devil, a witch, a red-headed child (Sorry they seem to have an anti-ginger thing going here, he doesn’t look happy about it either), a blue scarred cat-like animal, a werewolf with serious redeye issues, the obligatory clown and last and very much least, a one-eyed alien, who looks just as confused to be there as we are as to why he is in a Halloween game!
A haunted house forms the games fixed wild symbol which handily pays from any 2x adjacent symbols on an active pay-line though unusually for a Neo title the pumpkin scatter only pays from 3x, this is the only symbol not replaced by the fixed wild icon. A funky and well-rendered cartoon gravestone forms the games bonus trigger but offers no pays in of itself – hit the games pay-table if you aren’t sure!
This is a flash title and no download is required to have fun with it, you can play from web browser, tablet and mobile (Google Chrome is best in all cases).
The music is cool, it took me a while but eventually, I realised what was nagging me about it, as a theme park fan I used to love Alton Towers as a kid and the music and sound effects are very reminiscent of some twisted marriage between ‘In the hall of the mountain king’ and the Adams family.
There is a solid 30x Pay-lines to play on here so it’s not all darkness and high rollers will like a slightly increased bet range to a max of 300. 00 Credits per spin.
Feature wise you get a random free spins bonus of 5/10 or 15 gratis spins if you land 3 or more scatters anywhere on the reels, additional scatters unusually don’t add more spins, they simply increase the initial win.
Sadly you can’t re-trigger the free spins as is, unfortunately, common with this game provider and you can’t trigger the bonus round either, horrifying! Not likely to make it one of the best online slots, or is it?
The pick win bonus in the game is pretty formulaic too, pick from the gravestones in the cemetery and each pick will reveal a cash prize, a win multiplier or a game over collect symbol. The game has a solid 10000x coin Jackpot but you only win that in the base game with 5x wilds, so the bonus pick round will have to deliver some serious wins in its own right to excite over the long term.

Unlike the Fruity Friends & Mighty Sphinx slots where you get low & high volatility respectively the variance in this games is very clearly two tier, you get lots of wins in the base game and the free spins kick in often enough to keep things interesting but it is the pick bonus game where the variance and the possible wins increase to proportionally larger levels.
NeoGames have evidently tried to appeal to both fun players and cash win chasers with this game and that is always a tough task on one title, as far as it goes I think they have made a hauntingly good stab at it! This game is apparently still in the top 5 most played, some six months after Halloween has been and gone!
As with almost all NeoGames titles the game is available as a free online slot and as a real money game.
The flash slots from this studio come with a pay-table in both a pictorial form (which I have placed screenshots of above along with the bonus round) and a text document available by clicking on the ‘? ‘ symbol in the game to give you complete and full game details including the average RTP stats (93%). All the games are protected by a disconnect feature which records the game result, so no lost winnings!
Almost all NeoGames supplied sites also have a live chat function, so if you aren’t sure – just hit the ‘chat-to-us’ button on the casino site!
